Why this excludes the product

Products without an image are excluded from Shopify Catalog outright.

Shopify Catalog requires at least one product image. Imageless products are excluded.

How common it is

We scanned 19 established Shopify catalogs covering 3,562 products. This appeared in 21% of those stores, affecting 0.3% of all products scanned. These are brands with staff and agencies, so it is not a small-merchant problem.

How to check it yourself

• Open Products in your admin and add the Image column, or filter by products with no media.
• Add one clear photo on a plain background. It does not need to be a studio shot to qualify.

The fix

Upload at least one product image. One clear photo on a plain background is enough to qualify.
